In short: There is no single best dating app for Italians. Tinder, Hinge and Bumble have the most people; Tinder, Badoo and Meetic are the most used in Italy; and a few Italian niche sites exist, mostly on the web or Android. Mia, a dating app built for Italians and Italian-Americans, launches on iPhone in winter 2026–27.

Let’s start with the obvious.

We’re building Mia, a dating app for Italians and Italian-Americans. So yes, we’re biased.

But before building it, we looked hard at everything already out there. Here is what we found, as honestly as we can put it, so you can decide what’s right for you today.

The Big General Apps: Tinder, Hinge, Bumble

These have the most people, by far. If your goal is the largest possible pool, start here.

In Italy, Tinder is the leader. Sensor Tower’s 2025 data for Italy lists Tinder, Badoo and Hinge among the top dating apps, and in a July 2025 Altroconsumo survey the apps respondents said they used most were Tinder, Badoo and Meetic.

Good for: sheer numbers, big cities, casual and serious dating alike.

The catch: none of them is built around heritage. Being Italian is something you signal yourself, and hope the right person notices.

If you use them, make it easy to find you:

  • Say it in your bio: where your family is from, what Sunday looks like.
  • Use a prompt about food, family or a tradition you’d never give up.
  • Include one photo that says “famiglia” without you saying a word.

Meetic and Badoo

Both are widely used in Italy, and both are worth a look if you live there or are moving back. Outside Italy, the people you’d want to meet are less likely to be on them.

Good for: Italians living in Italy.

The catch: not much help if you’re in New Jersey, Toronto or Melbourne.

Italian Niche Sites and Apps

Search “Italian dating” and you’ll find a handful of sites made for Italians or Italian-Americans, such as Italian American Dating and ItalianoSingles. On Android, there are also “meet Italians” apps like Italy Social, aimed mostly at meeting people in Italy.

Most of these are websites or Android apps. When we searched Apple’s U.S. App Store in October 2026 for “Italian dating” and “Italian American dating,” we couldn’t find an iPhone app built specifically for Italians or Italian-Americans.

Good for: people who want an Italian-only space right now and don’t mind using a website.

The catch: a niche service is only as good as the number of active members near you. Before paying for anything, check how many real, recent profiles there are where you live.

Other Communities Already Have This

Jewish singles have JSwipe. South Asian singles have Dil Mil. Latino singles have Chispa.

Apps built around a shared culture work because they remove the explaining. You start from common ground and get to the good part faster.

Italians, one of the largest heritage communities in the world, haven’t had a true equivalent on iPhone, as far as we can find.

Where Mia Fits

Mia isn’t out yet, so we won’t tell you it’s the best. We’ll tell you what it is.

Mia is a dating app for Italians and people with Italian roots who want a serious relationship. It launches on iPhone in winter 2026–27.

  • Three profiles a day for everyone, instead of endless swiping.
  • Selfie-verified profiles before anyone is shown.
  • FamBlock, so you don’t match with your cousins.
  • Free to use, with an optional upgrade called Mia Ultra.

It will be new, which means a smaller community at first than the giants. If you want the biggest pool today, use a general app. If you want a place built around the way Italians love, join the waitlist.
